The City of East Orange marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of its newly renovated Paul Robeson Athletic Stadium. Under the leadership of Superintendent Dr. Christopher C. Irving, the district unveiled a state-of-the-art facility that promises to enhance athletic opportunities for years to come. The centerpiece of the renovation is the 8-lane, 400-meter track, equipped with two new long/triple jump runways and pits, a full D zone for high jumping, and a relocated pole vault runway.
Additionally, the football field received a complete turf makeover, ensuring a safe and optimal playing surface for athletes of all levels. "It's a dream come true," stated Dr. Irving. "This facility represents our commitment to providing our students with the best possible opportunities to excel both academically and athletically."
“What an amazing reflection of this community the Paul Roberson Stadium represents said Board President Andrea McPhatter. Not just for the present generation, but the generations to follow. I am grateful that we are blessed to be able to witness and partake in seeing this project finally come to fruition. To the coaches, parents, present and past administration, Mayor Green, City Council members, and the East Orange Community, thank you on behalf of the East Orange Board of Education."
The grand opening of the Paul Robeson Athletic Stadium was a celebration of progress and community spirit. The modernized facility is expected to have a positive impact on the city's youth, fostering a love of sports and providing a venue for athletic excellence.
Shout-out to our district sport teams, coaches, parents and the EOSD United Marching Band for coming out to celebrate.
